The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, for allegedly masterminding multiple cannabis shipments from Ghana to Nigeria.

The suspect, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, was apprehended on August 3 at his church in Lekki, Lagos, after weeks on the run. NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said the cleric had been linked to two earlier seizures — 200kg of Ghana Loud at Okun Ajah beach on June 4 and 700kg from his delivery van on July 6. He reportedly confessed to trafficking drugs via waterways and fleeing to Ghana to evade arrest.

In other operations, NDLEA recovered 3,476kg of cannabis and 645,906 opioid pills nationwide. In Lagos, 15.63kg of Canadian Loud was seized at an Ikoyi apartment. In Nasarawa, 3,093kg of skunk was intercepted in New Karu. Kano operations yielded 359kg of skunk, 9kg of Colorado cannabis, and 20,000 tramadol pills. Gombe raids uncovered over 550,000 opioid pills and arrested two suspects. Edo operatives intercepted tramadol, pentazocine, and other drugs from a passenger bus.
