The Peoples Democratic Party has begun its campaign for the August 16 Edo Central senatorial by-election, pledging to visit every community in the district’s five local government areas.
The election will also be held in Ovia Federal Constituency. At the flag-off rally in Uromi, former governorship candidate Asue Ighodalo said it was Uromi’s turn to produce a senator, urging residents to back PDP candidate Prince Joe Okojie.
He said Edo Central had lacked adequate representation since 2023 and called on voters to “collect their money and vote for what is right.”
Campaign Director General Joe Edionwe warned that Esanland would suffer if the opposition won. Okojie expressed confidence in his victory.
Party leaders at the rally included Senator Clifford Ordia, Anthony Okosun, Akhere Ugbesia, Senator Odion Ugbesia, and Joe Edionwe.
