Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the 83-year-old General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has revealed how he believes his life will end.

Speaking during the church’s international convention at the Redemption Camp, he said he expects to pass away peacefully on a Sunday after attending church service and eating his favourite meal, pounded yam.

Born on March 2, 1942, Adeboye shared this personal belief while addressing worshippers on the fourth day of the programme, themed “The Overcomers.” He explained that his death, when it comes, would not be the result of a long illness but rather a sudden and painless departure. This is not the first time he has made such a statement; he first spoke about it two years ago.

He used the occasion to urge Christians to take bold steps in claiming blessings he believes Christ has already secured for them. Drawing from the Bible, he compared the situation to the Israelites, who had to fight for the land of Canaan despite God’s promise. According to him, healing, prosperity, and long life are available to believers, but these must often be actively pursued.
Adeboye told the congregation that they should refuse to accept sickness, poverty, barrenness, or untimely death as normal. He said the Christian life involves resisting anything that takes away God-given blessings, likening it to Jacob wrestling with the angel until his situation changed.
The annual convention, which began earlier in the week, will end tomorrow with a Thanksgiving service, drawing thousands of worshippers from across the country and beyond.
