The Olubadan-in-Council will begin formal discussions on Monday over the installation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The meeting will take place at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, located within Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State. It is scheduled to start at 11:00 am and will be attended by all high-ranking chiefs of Ibadanland.
This gathering comes shortly after the completion of the 21-day mourning period for the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan, who passed away earlier this month.
A formal invitation for the meeting was issued by the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola. The agenda is expected to focus on the traditional steps and final approvals necessary for Ladoja’s emergence as the 44th Olubadan.
Oba Ladoja, the next in line to the throne, has been away from Ibadan since the death of Oba Olakulehin on July 7. However, sources close to the royal circle confirmed he will return to the city before the meeting.
Since the monarch’s death, Ladoja has been receiving dignitaries and sympathisers at his Lagos residence, marking the early days of transition before his expected formal installation.
