Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has no plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2026 governorship election, his spokesman said on Friday.
In a statement issued in Osogbo, the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, dismissed media reports suggesting Adeleke was considering an alliance with the ADC or its key figures.
He said Adeleke remains a committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and will contest the 2026 election under the party’s platform.
“There is no truth in those publications and speculations,” the statement read. “Governor Adeleke has no alliance with anyone in ADC. He remains in PDP, will run in PDP, and needs no alliance with ADC to win with a wide margin in 2026.”
Rasheed added that Adeleke enjoys strong support from the Osun electorate due to his performance in office, and that momentum would carry him through the next election.
He also noted that the PDP in Osun had already endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential race, further ruling out any political realignment with the ADC.
The governor’s team urged PDP members to stay focused and continue strengthening party structures ahead of next year’s vote.
