Peter Obi Donates ₦50 Million to Boost Infrastructure at Christ the King College

Peter Obi has returned to his roots with a ₦50 million donation to Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha, the school where he received his early education.

The contribution, made in partnership with other alumni, is aimed at upgrading infrastructure and improving the learning environment for current students.

Obi said the values that shaped his life—discipline, academic excellence, and moral strength—were nurtured during his time at CKC. Giving back to the institution, he noted, is not just an act of generosity but one of gratitude.

He called on alumni of CKC and other schools across Nigeria to support their former institutions in any way they can. Obi stressed that rebuilding the country’s educational system cannot be left to government alone. He believes that when old students come together to support their schools, they help lay a stronger foundation for the country’s future.

Education, he said, is the most powerful tool for national development. According to him, well-funded schools are key to producing responsible and capable citizens.

Obi also thanked the management of CKC and the Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, for their continued efforts in advancing education in the region. He encouraged them to keep working toward a better future for Nigeria’s children.

The former governor and 2023 presidential candidate closed his message with a renewed call for hope, saying a better Nigeria is still within reach.
