A prominent member of the Obidient Movement in the South East, Dr Emmanuel Ezeh, has thrown his weight behind Peter Obi as the most credible and unifying candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

Ezeh, who contested for a National Assembly seat under the Labour Party in 2023, described Obi as a grassroots favourite with strong backing from youths and women across Nigeria. He made the statement on Tuesday while reflecting on the growing momentum behind the Obidient Movement.

He cited the recent Obidient Day of Service held on July 19 — which marked Obi’s 64th birthday — as proof of the movement’s expanding influence. According to him, Obi’s style of leadership, marked by personal sacrifice and focus on social impact, continues to endear him to Nigerians.

“Peter Obi is a man of service. He’s not driven by personal gain. He’s shown over and over that his wealth is for the people, not politics,” Ezeh said.
He likened Obi’s 2027 chances to those of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who defeated an incumbent in 2015. Ezeh also called on opposition forces, especially members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to back Obi’s bid.

“In terms of pro-poor leadership, no other aspirant comes close. Obi stands out with his competence, credibility, courage, and compassion,” he said.
Ezeh revealed that talks were ongoing with key political figures like Nasir El-Rufai, Chibuike Amaechi, and Aminu Tambuwal. He believes their experience would be vital in protecting votes and strengthening Obi’s 2027 campaign.
“The Obidient Movement brings the numbers, but this coalition brings the strategy. El-Rufai, Amaechi, and Tambuwal are seasoned political tacticians who know how to secure a mandate,” he added.
He criticised the Tinubu-led administration for failing to tackle electoral violence and restore trust in the democratic process. He warned that any attempt to sideline Obi in 2027 would face resistance from voters.
Citing the peaceful transitions in Senegal and Ghana, Ezeh called for electoral reforms that allow reruns in case of disputes, instead of relying on courts to decide elections.
“Nigerians must be prepared. 2027 is not just an election — it’s a battle to rescue this country and set it on the right path,” he concluded.
