Senator Babajide Omoworare has officially joined the 2026 Osun State governorship race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), promising to return with renewed energy to rebuild the state.

Speaking at the APC state secretariat in Osogbo on Monday, the former senator described himself as a “five-star general” in politics with a clean electoral record.

“I’ve never lost any election. Even when they tried to rig me out, I went to court and won. I’m here not to declare but to notify the party that I’m in the race,” he said.

Omoworare, a former Majority Leader in the Lagos State House of Assembly and senator representing Osun East, said his political lineage and experience made him the right man for the job.

“My maternal grandfather, the Ooni of Ife, was the first governor of the Western Region. I’m a progressive by blood,” he said.
He blamed APC’s defeat in the last Osun governorship election on internal issues, not the strength of the opposition.
“PDP didn’t win. APC lost. But we will not lose again. I’m here to help us get it right,” he declared.
Omoworare pledged loyalty to the party and said he would step aside if asked by the leadership, though not without making his case.
In his response, Osun APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, praised Omoworare as a committed progressive and called on all aspirants to maintain peace and unity as the party prepares to reclaim the state in 2026.
