Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda was involved in a road accident on Sunday while travelling along the Daura–Katsina highway.
The incident occurred shortly after his condolence visit to the family home of late former President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura.
Governor Radda had joined other mourners to honour Buhari’s memory before heading back to the state capital when the crash happened. Although details are still unclear, officials say it was a minor accident.
His chief press secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed, confirmed the incident and assured the public that the governor did not sustain any serious injuries. He added that Radda is in stable condition and receiving medical attention as a precaution.
The governor also appeared in a video shared on social media, confirming he is doing well. In the video, he thanked God for protection and appreciated the concern shown by residents of Katsina and well-wishers across the country.
As the state continues to mourn the passing of the former president, Governor Radda’s safety brought relief to many who feared the worst after news of the crash broke.
Authorities have yet to give full details about how the accident happened, but sources say an investigation may follow to prevent future occurrences on that route.
