Former EFCC boss Farida Waziri has paid tribute to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, saying his personal integrity and role in her career earned him a place in her heart.

In a condolence message on Wednesday from Abuja, Waziri said Buhari’s death touched many Nigerians, but for her, it was deeply personal.

“President Buhari was a man defined by discipline, incorruptibility, and truth,” she said. “From his time as military head of state to his return as a civilian president, he stayed committed to fighting corruption.”

Waziri, who led the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), praised Buhari for living modestly and holding himself to a high moral standard, even when it meant standing alone.

She also recalled how Buhari ensured that she received her rightful retirement rank as Assistant Inspector General of Police, a move she described as a reflection of his fairness and character.

“In a system where justice is often hard to find, he did what was right,” she said. “He didn’t just talk about integrity — he lived it.”

Waziri described Buhari as a man whose legacy in the fight against corruption will outlive him.

“History will remember him not just as a leader, but as a man of integrity,” she said. “May his soul rest in peace.”
