Jandor Casts Vote Urges Lagos Residents to Join Local Polls

Olajide Adediran, better known as Jandor, took part in the ongoing local government and councillorship elections in Lagos State, urging residents to show up and make their voices count.

The 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and leader of the Lagos4Lagos Movement cast his vote on Saturday and called on others to do the same.

The elections, which are being held across the state, focus on grassroots leadership—positions that directly affect residents’ daily lives. For Adediran, participation in local elections is not just a right but a crucial way for people to influence decisions that impact their immediate environment.

He encouraged Lagosians from all backgrounds to come out and vote, noting that local governments play a key role in service delivery. From sanitation to community infrastructure, these are the leaders that shape neighborhoods, he said.

He also reminded residents that their Permanent Voter’s Card is not just a form of identification but a tool for change. He urged people to use it to take control of the future of their communities and hold local leaders responsible for their actions.

While commending the peaceful nature of the election, Adediran acknowledged the efforts of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police in maintaining calm and order at the polling units. According to him, a secure voting atmosphere is essential for public confidence in the process.

Several other political figures were seen voting at the same polling unit, including former Deputy Governor Princess Sarah Sosan and ex-Ojo Local Government Chairman Yinka Durosimi, alongside other leaders of the All Progressives Congress.

The turnout and tone of the election show that interest in grassroots leadership is growing. For Adediran and others like him, the hope is that Lagosians will take full advantage of their right to vote and take ownership of how their local areas are run.
