The Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi state, Murtala Ajaka was assaulted at the Supreme Court moment the apex court upheld the election of Usman Ododo as the Governor of the State.
The assault started from inside the Supreme Court complex as Ajaka made to leave the court. He was booed by Kogi indigenes who were in the court to witness the court judgment.
They followed him outside the court and upon sighting him, those outside the Supreme Court complex started throwing objects at him, calling him a thief.
It took the combined efforts of security men to rush him into his waiting SUV, and zoomed away.
Ajaka had filed a suit in the apex court challenging the emergence of Ododo as the winner of the March 2023 governorship election in the state.
