Uncommon Disgrace! How Akpabio Embarrassed, Brought Shame On Akwa Ibom People Despite Spending Billions of Naira

After weeks of uncommon boasts, and having realized his quest to become the President of Nigeria was a tall order, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio has chickened out of the contest for the All Progressives Congress presidential ticket, a move many are seeing as turning himself into a political Lilliput.

Akpabio had withdrawn from the race and threw his weight behind Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

His withdraw has elicited reactions especially from Akwa Ibom State, with many of them viewing his withdrawal as an embarrassment of historic proportions.

Sources disclosed that Akpabio spent more than N10 billion on the failed presidential ambition.

“He is finished politically. He boasted of being the most popular politician, but has realized he has no such clout; he knew he was going to be roundly beaten and disgraced, hence his withdrawal from the race,” a political analyst told our reporter.

Also speaking, a top member of APC said in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital that by the actions and inactions of Akpabio, the party (APC) is totally dead in the State.

“Rather than face the party here and revive it, Akpabio was running up and down, spending billions of Naira on a presidential ambition that he knew will lead to nowhere.

“He is such a selfish person, whose only thought is about himself alone.

“Now that he has stepped down and bowed out from the presidential contest, I wonder what he will tell us here. May we never have his likes in Akwa Ibom APC again.”
