Knock, disgrace as angry sympathizers boo Akpabio for turning burial of APC Chairman to self-praise, campaign ground

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio was made to face the political disgrace of his life when he was booed for turning a solemn event in Akwa Ibom State, where two brothers were buried into a theatre of self praise and political campaign.

Angry sympathisers at the burial of two brothers, Dr. Ime Titus Okopido, a former Minister of State in the Ministry of Environment, and Hon. Ini Titus Okopido, who until his death was the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), could not hide their disapproval to Akpabio’s self-addulation in his address.

Instead of showing empathy and commiserating with families of the deceased, Akpabio had gone about eulogising himself and casting aspersions on the Governor Udom Emmanuel led government.

He said that his prayer has always been that God should give Akwa Ibom State another person that will resemble him to ensure rapid development in the State and the improvement of the living conditions of the people.

The event, was bi-partisan had top PDP stakeholders including the party Chairman, Udo Ekpenyong as well as the National Legal Adviser, Barrister Enoidem in attendance while Governor Udom Emmanuel was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem.

WazobiaReporters staff reporter, who was at the event, reports that there was loud protest by even APC members on the Akpabio’s self-praise and “I am the only one who should be worshipped and adored by Akwa Ibom people” must stop.

“This man has deep insecurities; why is he always trying so hard to make people love him? Why is it that everything he did or is doing is the best and no one else can match him?

“Can someone ask Akpabio what happened to the billions of Naira he spent on Tropicana?

“Hasn’t Akpabio been flying Ibom Air? Was he the one who set up the Ibom Air, which has become the most sought after airline in the country’s aviation industry?

“Akpabio should get ready to face the anti graft agencies on the multi-billion naira fraud he perpetrated in Niger Delta Development Commission in collaboration with the Interim Management Committee.

“He should get used to the fact that Akwa Ibom State has moved beyond the theatrics of infantile governance and waste of his eight years in office,” a stakeholder had stated.
