Ondo State House of Assembly has commenced the impeachment of the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, even as nine out of the 26 members have dissociated themselves from the plot.

The nine members are; Iroju Ogundeji, Jamiu Suleiman Maito, Rasheed Olalekan Elegbeleye, Tomide Akinribido, Favour Semilore Tomomewo, Festus Akingbaso, Adewale Williams Adewinle and Torhukerhijo Success.

18 out of the 26 members in the House of Assembly are needed to impeach either Governor or Deputy Governor.

The House which is presently in session has dispatched the queries for which the removal of the Deputy Governor will be based.

Among others, the Assembly says the Deputy Governor is charged with abandonment of official duty, financial recklessness, gross misconduct, sponsoring of offensive materials in the media, defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), among others

14 members of the Assembly signed the notice.

Ajayi and Governor Oluwarotimi’s disagreement became pronounced after the Deputy Governor was blocked from exiting the government house in Akure. Shortly after he resigned for the ruling APC and joined the PDP.
