Court stops traditional rites for Oore of Otun Ekiti

The Ekiti state High Court Sitting in Ado Ekiti has commenced hearing in the Obaship row rocking Otun Ekiti, Moba Local government area of the state.

A suit filed by Chief Atolagbe Adeleke on behalf of Obajeu ruling house is asking the court to stop all traditional rites for the monarch-elect of the ancient town, Prince Adekunle Adeagbo, saying the process that led to his emergence was faulty.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Adesodun Abodunde, ruled the defendants in the matter, who are the Ekiti Governor and five others, should further put on hold all traditional rites relating to the installation of any candidate as Oore of Otun pending the hearing and determination of all applications.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Olakanmi Falade, who spoke with newsmen shortly after the court session, explained that the court has further extended interim injunction to stop whatever actions the defendants in the matter may take.

When contacted, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Olawale Fapohunda, explained that the court has not removed the new monarch but restrained all activities till further notice.

The court was adjourned various applications and notice of preliminary objections till Tuesday, June 9 2020.
