The supreme court on Monday affirmed the election of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state and member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The court also has dismissed an appeal filed by Ahmed Aliyu challenging the election of Aminu Tambuwal as Governor of Sokoto state.

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal and cross-appeal instituted by Alhaji Abba Kabiru Yusuf, gubernatorial candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), against Ganduje’s election.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta declared that the grounds of the two appeals brought by the appellant were dismissed for lack of merit.
He added that the grounds of the appeals were blanket in law, unproved and could not accommodate all infractions of the electoral process.
On Sokoto State election, the Supreme Court, in a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, dismissed the appeal on the ground that the appellant failed to prove his allegation of non-compliance with the electoral act and issues of over-voting.
