Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Abuja has instructed parties in the suite to within one week conclude the inspection of the election materials held on November 16, 2019, inspite efforts by the lawyers of Governor Yahaya Bello and the All Progressives Congress (APC) respondents in the matter to frustrate the move.

The tribunal chairman, Justice Gumna Kashim Kaigama, who gave the warning at the sitting of the tribunal, admonished parties to avoid needless delay in issue brought before the judges for determination by the appellants.

He further warned against efforts by the respondents to introduce overflogged issue to procure more time, saying such will be ruled against.

He made particular reference to the efforts to smuggle in some portions of the pre-election matters determined by Justice Okorowa of the Federal High Court, Lokoja to digress from the real issue boardering on alleged electoral fraud brought before the tribunal .

The tribunal also refused the 2nd respondent’s application to introduce some fresh documents brought before the Lord Justice of the FHC, by ruling in favour of Engineer Musa Wada.

On the whole, two pending motions to stall proceedings of the tribunal were turned down, insisting that status quo must be maintained to ensure smooth hearing .
