The Peoples Democratic Party Campaign Council in Kogi state has sought the intervention of traditional rulers and Chief Gani Adams over the alleged invasion of Kogi west and Kogi east by suspected members of the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) ahead of the governorship election in the state.
The council alleged that OPC members were brought into the state from Ekiti state to cause mayhem during the election.
The deputy director, public communication of the campaign council, Austin Okai, accused the All Progressives Congress, APC of drafting the OPC members to the two senatorial districts to aid the rigging plans of the party in the election.
“The OPC members, who are to operate in fake military uniform were brought in to the west and the east to ensure that the opposition party don’t win the zones, while the central senatorial district where Governor Yahaya Bello comes from is left for the APC to have a field day.”
We are calling on Chief Gani Adams and traditional rulers, as the custodians of the society to prevail upon the governor not to throw the state into crisis,” he said.
The party however appealed to the Department of State Security (DSS) to be weary of the antics of the people that were determined to cause crisis during the election, particularly in the strongholds of the opposition.
