BREAKING: Kidnappers Of Four Civil Defence Officers Free Six Out Of Nine Victims After Paying Millions As Ransom

Six out of the nine persons kidnapped on Monday in Pegi, a community in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja have been released.

WazobiaReporters was informed by a reliable source that the kidnappers released six out of the nine victims after paying ransom ranging from N2 million to N5 million.

Though the identity of the freed victims remained unclear as at the time of filing this report, it was reliably gathered that the 12-year-old boy who was among the victims and his father are still with the abductors, who are Fulanis.

The kidnappers who operated in military camouflage were said to be armed to the teeth and boasted to their victims that “they own the land and will take total control of it once they are able to raise enough fund.”

The kidnappers were also suspected to be responsible for the abduction of another civil defence officer with his wife and son, at Dafara community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Wednesday.

They killed a vigilante group member, who ran into them during the attack on Wednesday night.

A resident who identified herself as Laide said the incident happened around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday when the gunmen invaded the community via the bush and abducted the NSCDC officer, his wife and one of his children.

Laide said, “The invaders came through the bush, bulldozed their way into the civil defence officer’s home and abducted him, his wife and son. A vigilante (member) who ran into them was shot dead. He has been buried today according to Islamic rites.”
