VIDEO: How ICPC Recovered Akwa Ibom Hospital’s Multi-Million Naira Constituency Project’s Equipment Diverted By Sen. Akpabio
Some medical equipment meant for the Cottage Hospital in Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State that were recovered from Semek Water Factory owned by Senator Godswill Akpabio, by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) have been handed over to the hospital management.

The ICPC commissioner in the state, Mr. Olusola Shodipo handed the items over to the medical superintendent of Ukana Cottage Hospital, Dr Mary Paulinus Udoh, on behalf of the commission.

Receiving the items, Dr Mary Udoh said the medical equipment will improve service delivery to Ukana people.

WazobiaReporters had reported exclusively yesterday, that operatives of the ICPC raided the premises of Semek Water Factory owned by Senator Godswill Akpabio, but managed by his younger brother, Mr Nsentip Akpabio, where the medical equipment which were part of items purchased through his (Akpabio) Constituency Project were diverted to.

Items recovered included two 15 KVA generating sets, a dialysis machine, complete sets of laboratory items for surgical operation and other theatrical equipment, two infant incubators, vacuum extractors, amongst other items.
The two generating sets and medical equipment were released by the federal government as constituency project to Ukana in March 2018.
Later in a chat with newsmen after the exercise, the ICPC commissioner said discovery of the items was part the ICPC’s nationwide investigations into the implementation of community projects embarked upon by lawmakers.
Mr Shodipo said investigation was still ongoing to unravel the contractor who handled the project and the whereabouts of two other dialysis machines also meant for Ukana Cottage Hospital.
