Still desperate to take Akwa Ibom State by whatever means, defeated former Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio has concluded plans to use the occasion of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital tomorrow to intensify his sinister plot for the removal of the State Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mike Igini and other top staff of the commission seen as not supporting the rigging plans of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senator Akpabio who was roundly defeated last week in his reelection bid to the Senate is angry that his plot to manipulate the senatorial election that he lost was resisted by these INEC staff.
According to information exclusively obtained by our Reporters, “Senator Akpabio is planning to use the opportunity of the planned visit of President Buhari to Akwa Ibom State tomorrow, to cast aspersions on INEC staff in the State and call for the redeployment.
“Akpabio is angry that the INEC staff being people of integrity resisted his evil plans to rig the election in his favour on February 23, election.
“He has already compiled names of those he wants to replace the INEC staff with and he is expected to give the list to the President on Monday.
“He desperately needs his choiced INEC staff to help him rig the March 9 gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections,” the source said.
Senator Akpabio, it was also reliably gathered has set up a high- powered lobby group to prevail on the President to appoint him as his Chief of Staff.
