Breaking News: Twin explosions rock Maiduguri, many feared dead, several people injured

Two days after Boko Haram insurgents bombed the popular Madagali, Adamawa State marker, killing over 100 people, two deafening explosions on Sunday morning occurred in a crowded area near Maiduguri’s main market, witnesses and officials have said.

The two blasts occurred in quick succession at about 8:48 a.m.
The Police public relations officer, Victor Isuku, confirmed the blasts which he said was near Old NEPA office not far from Monday market.

The attacked area is one of the busiest places in Maiduguri and is usually crowded with commuters and pedestrians.

Several people have been confirmed dead in the bomb explosion in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

An official of the local vigilante called Civilian-JTF said “It was a suicide bomb attack, we are trying to ascertain the actual number of those injured in the hospital now.”

Today’s bombings in Maiduguri made it four bomb blasts in the Boko Haram ravaged North Eastern part of Nigeria in the last 48 hours.
