A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Hon. Aminu Zang, has rejected his inclusion in the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential and governorship campaign council, reaffirming his loyalty to the opposition party.
Zang’s name reportedly appeared as number 254 on the published list of the APC Campaign Council’s Central Planning Committee. However, he said he was neither consulted nor informed before his name was included.
In a statement titled Clarification on My Inclusion in the 2027 Plateau State Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council – Central Planning Committee (CPC), Zang maintained that his political allegiance remained with the PDP and the Rainbow Coalition.
He expressed appreciation to those who considered him suitable for the assignment but stressed that he remained a committed member of the PDP.
Speaking during a telephone conversation, Zang said he was not angry about the development but had to clarify his position because he was not consulted before his name was published.
He maintained that he could not belong to the PDP and simultaneously serve on the APC campaign council.
On his political position ahead of the 2027 general elections, Zang said he supported the position of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike on President Bola Tinubu’s return to office but would not support the Plateau State governor.
He also declared his support for the PDP, noting that the party had a governorship candidate in Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik.
Zang further disclosed that the PDP had yet to constitute its campaign council, adding that the party was still working on the process.
In his statement, he urged political stakeholders, party members, supporters and members of the public to embrace peace, tolerance, civility and political decorum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He called on all participants in the electoral process to demonstrate maturity, mutual respect and a strong sense of responsibility.
Zang also urged stakeholders to seek the guidance and intervention of Almighty God to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
