Ike had approached the court seeking ₦10 billion in compensation over the alleged publication of his personal data in INEC’s database, claiming that the actions of the electoral commission and Olayinka caused him hardship and damage.

He also asked the court to declare the defendants’ alleged actions illegal and unconstitutional.

Delivering judgment, the presiding judge, Justice Salim Ibrahim, held that Ike had failed to establish his claims against the defendants with credible evidence.

The judge said the actor did not sufficiently demonstrate how his rights had been violated by INEC and Olayinka, adding that the case lacked substance.

Justice Ibrahim consequently dismissed the suit, ruling in favour of the defendants on the grounds that the allegations had not been substantiated.

The court awarded no costs but cautioned against filing frivolous lawsuits that waste judicial time.
