A councillor representing Ogugu Ward III in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Rosemary Aduku, has reportedly died after spending several days in captivity.

Her death was announced on Friday by the Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Area, Dr Ameh Williams, in a statement issued on behalf of the local government’s Executive Council.
Aduku, popularly known as Hon. Rosella among her colleagues, was a member of the 8th Olamaboro Legislative Council. She was remembered as a humble, dependable and compassionate politician who cared about the welfare and happiness of people around her.
Williams expressed sadness over her death, describing her as a remarkable person whose contributions to her community and colleagues would be remembered.
According to the statement, Aduku was widely respected for her down-to-earth nature, reliability and positive attitude towards others. The council chairman said she had built a reputation as someone who wanted to see those around her happy.
He added that although her life had been cut short, her legacy and the testimonies shared since her death would remain a source of comfort to those who knew her.
Williams extended his condolences to Aduku’s family, members of the Olamaboro Legislative Council, the local government’s Executive Council and residents of the Ogugu community.
He also prayed for God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give her loved ones the strength to cope with the loss.
The burial was scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday at her family compound in Ogugu Centre.
The council chairman called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to attend the burial and join the community in paying their final respects to the late councillor.
