The Federal Government has arraigned the Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, Adeniyi Adeyemi, before the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged forgery.

Adeyemi was brought before Justice Muhammed Umar on Wednesday to face an eight-count charge relating to alleged forgery.

The prosecution accused him of forging an appointment letter purportedly issued by President Bola Tinubu and signed by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The alleged document was said to have been used to support Adeyemi’s claim of heading the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, which the authorities have described as a fake agency.

The arraignment followed Adeyemi’s arrest by the police. He had remained in police custody before being taken to court on Wednesday for the commencement of proceedings.
The Federal Government’s case centres on the alleged creation and use of official-looking documents to give credibility to Adeyemi’s purported appointment and the activities of the organisation he allegedly represented.
Adeyemi is facing eight charges, with the allegations to be determined through the court proceedings.
