Lagos APC Expels Two Members Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled former Agege Local Government chairman Ganiyu Egunjobi and Azeez Yusuf over alleged anti-party activities and disloyalty to the party.

The two former APC members contested the party’s primary elections for Agege Constituency I and Agege Constituency II in the 2026 Lagos State House of Assembly nomination process but failed to secure the party’s tickets.

Following the primary elections, both individuals reportedly obtained nomination tickets from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to contest the same constituencies.

The Lagos APC said their decision to seek the backing of another political party after losing the internal contest amounted to a breach of the obligations expected of party members.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the state APC chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, said the party had taken disciplinary action against the two men in line with its constitution.

The party maintained that members who participate in its internal elections are expected to accept the outcome or use the available channels within the party and the law to challenge the result.

According to the APC, leaving the party and securing another platform to contest within the same electoral cycle was inconsistent with its rules on party loyalty and discipline.

The party said it relied on Article 9(5)(II) of the APC Constitution, as amended in 2022, in reaching its decision to expel the two former members.

The Lagos chapter also stated that Egunjobi and Yusuf no longer had any authority to represent the APC or conduct official business on behalf of the party.

It warned members, supporters and members of the public against treating either of the expelled individuals as an authorised representative or agent of the Lagos APC.

The party said its position was based on the need to maintain discipline and adherence to its internal rules as it prepares for forthcoming elections.

The development adds to political activity surrounding the 2026 Lagos State House of Assembly elections, with parties and aspirants positioning themselves ahead of the electoral process.
