Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has endorsed the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda, as his preferred successor to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Wike made his position known during a reception organised in his honour by Ogbakor Ikwerre, the socio-cultural organisation representing the Ikwerre people, at Obiri-Ehie in Rivers State.

The former Rivers governor presented Chinda to members of the gathering as the politician he expects to take over from Fubara after the 2027 governorship election.
Chinda, a serving member of the House of Representatives, has maintained a close political relationship with Wike over the years. He previously served as Minority Leader of the House and has remained involved in several political developments linked to the former governor.
