Popular Okrika-born philanthropist and grassroots politician, Hon. Desmond Stephen, has resigned from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and joined the Action Democratic Party (ADP).

In a resignation letter dated May 25, 2026, Stephen thanked the NDC leadership and members for the opportunities and political experience he gained while in the party.

He said his decision followed careful consideration and was driven by his renewed commitment to serving the people of Okrika.
Stephen is now the ADP candidate for Okrika Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly election.
The politician is known for his community outreach initiatives, youth empowerment programmes and advocacy for local development.
