The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has raised allegations of a possible plan to manipulate the 2027 general elections, claiming that some individuals associated with the Rainbow Coalition may be involved.
The party specifically mentioned the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Princewill Chike, in connection with the alleged plan.
The ADC made the allegation through its Rivers State Publicity Secretary, Chizy Enyi, in a video clip.
Enyi alleged that Chike is associated with the Rainbow Coalition, a political movement linked to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
According to the ADC spokesman, the vice chancellor has openly identified with the political group and may have a role in the selection of returning officers for the 2027 election.
Enyi further claimed that Chike was recommended by Wike for his appointment as vice chancellor and was subsequently imposed on the institution.
He cited a signpost allegedly displayed at the entrance of the university as evidence of the vice chancellor’s connection to the political movement.

According to the ADC spokesman, the signpost carries the inscription, “Academia Rainbow Coalition of the Renewed Hope,” alongside Chike’s photograph.
Enyi expressed concern that individuals selected or recommended as returning officers could be affiliated with the coalition.
He alleged that if such individuals were eventually appointed to oversee election results, there could be a risk of manipulation during the 2027 polls.
The ADC spokesman said the party would closely monitor the process and pay particular attention to those who would be nominated for election-related responsibilities.
He challenged the vice chancellor to demonstrate that any persons recommended for such positions would be politically neutral and not connected to the coalition.
Enyi also questioned the reasons behind Chike’s alleged association with the political movement and called on relevant authorities to ensure that electoral officials are selected solely on the basis of competence and impartiality.
The ADC did not provide independent evidence in the report to substantiate its allegation of a planned rigging operation.
The claims come as political parties and groups in Rivers State intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
