Osun Group Questions Adeleke’s Record, Endorses Oyebamiji

A coalition of Muslim leaders under the umbrella of the Concerned Muslim Stakeholders and League of Alfas in Osun State has questioned Governor Ademola Adeleke’s claim that his administration has delivered more benefits to Muslims than previous governments.

The group also declared its support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 governorship election in the state.

The position was made known on Thursday during a press conference in Osogbo titled “State of the Nation: A Call to the Conscience of Muslims in Osun State.”

Speaking at the event, the group’s President, Sheikh Qozeem AbdulRahaman, said the election provides an opportunity for residents to assess candidates based on their record in governance, fairness and leadership.

He stated that the coalition disagreed with the Adeleke administration’s assessment of its performance on issues affecting the Muslim community.

According to him, projects cited by the state government, including the Government House Mosque and the Osun Hajj Camp, do not reflect the level of completion presented by the administration. He encouraged members of the public to independently verify the progress of the projects.

The coalition’s Secretary, Abdulganiy Sahid, also said some members of the Muslim community had expressed concerns over representation in political appointments and leadership positions within the state government.

He described those concerns as views held by members of the community and called for fairness and equal representation in public offices.

The coalition maintained that its position should not be interpreted as an attempt to promote religious division, stressing that it supports peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths and equal opportunities for all residents of Osun State.

The group endorsed Oyebamiji’s governorship bid and urged voters to assess him based on his character, competence, experience and leadership qualities rather than religious considerations alone.

It also appealed to Muslims across the state to participate peacefully in the August 15 governorship election and exercise their civic rights in line with their conscience.
