Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said the build-up to the 2027 general elections will not affect the execution of ongoing infrastructure projects in the territory, stating that the administration’s achievements remain its strongest campaign message.

Wike spoke on Wednesday while inspecting the construction of the Arterial Road N16 linking Ring Road II and Ring Road III through Jahi, Gwarimpa and Karsana, as well as the 7.3-kilometre Tunga Madaki-Zuba road connecting the Abuja-Kaduna Highway.

He said his administration would continue to focus on delivering projects, adding that completed and ongoing developments across the FCT would speak for themselves when political campaigns begin.
According to the minister, the government fulfilled promises made to residents through visible projects rather than political statements, noting that the administration would present its record of performance to the people when the time comes.
Wike said governance and politics would continue side by side without slowing the pace of development, expressing confidence that the administration’s achievements would strengthen public support.
Speaking on the Arterial Road N16 project being handled by CBC Global, the minister said he was satisfied with the pace of work after receiving assurances from the contractor that the project would be completed by January.
He described the road as an important project that would improve movement and open up more parts of the Gwarimpa axis for development once completed.

On the Tunga Madaki-Zuba road being constructed by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), Wike commended the contractor for maintaining steady progress despite the challenges posed by the rainy season.
He said the company had assured the FCT Administration that the road would be ready by December, adding that work on drainage systems had continued while heavy rainfall slowed earthworks.
The minister also disclosed that he had approved the relocation of electricity poles along the road corridor to allow for the installation of streetlights after the completion of the project.
Wike praised Chinese construction firms handling several FCT projects for beginning work promptly without waiting for mobilisation payments, saying their confidence in the government’s ability to meet its financial obligations had helped speed up project execution.
He assured the contractors that funds would continue to be released as required to ensure that projects were completed according to schedule.
The minister urged the companies to maintain the quality of their work and sustain the pace of construction across the territory.
The inspection formed part of the FCT Administration’s regular monitoring of ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at ensuring their timely completion under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
