Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

The approval forms part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Between June 8 and July 17, 2026, the FCT commissioned and flagged off more than 30 projects to commemorate the milestone.

Announcing the development, Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, said the promotion exercise reflects the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.

Ezeh explained that promotion examinations for senior officers were held from July 1 to July 3, while junior officers wrote their examinations on July 10.
He commended Wike for providing the support required for the commission to carry out the exercise successfully and in line with its statutory responsibilities.
According to him, the minister has also directed the commission to begin preparations immediately for the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure that eligible officers are promoted without unnecessary delays.

Ezeh said the administration is determined to ensure that workers benefit alongside the ongoing development projects taking place across the Federal Capital Territory. He added that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to improving staff welfare and supporting career progression within the civil service.
He also noted that civil servants should share in the achievements recorded by the administration as President Tinubu marks three years in office.
The commission chairman commended FCT workers for conducting themselves peacefully and professionally throughout the 2025 promotion exercise. He urged officers expected to participate in the 2026 exercise to maintain the same level of discipline.
Ezeh further appreciated the leadership of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) for its cooperation, which contributed to the smooth conduct of the exercise.
He advised officers preparing for the 2026 promotion exercise to begin their preparations early, reminding them that promotion in the FCT Civil Service is based on merit, competition and the availability of vacancies.
