12,000 Defects to APC in Kaduna

About 12,000 members of different political parties have left their former platforms to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The new members were officially received during an event held in the Ramin Kura and Gure/Kahugu wards. Kaduna State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Alhaji Abubakar Buba, represented Governor Uba Sani at the ceremony.

The gathering brought together party officials, government representatives, traditional and community leaders, as well as supporters from Ramin Kura, Lere and Gure/Kahugu wards.

Addressing the defectors, Buba said the Uba Sani administration remained committed to treating every resident of Kaduna State fairly, irrespective of political affiliation. He stated that the government would continue to pursue policies based on justice, fairness and equal opportunities for all.

He said the governor’s rural development programmes had earned support from people in different parts of the state. According to him, investments in road construction, schools and other public infrastructure had encouraged more residents to identify with the ruling party.

Buba assured the new APC members that they would enjoy the same rights and opportunities as existing members of the party. He added that there would be no discrimination in integrating them into the party’s activities.

Chairman of Lere Local Government, Alhaji Jafaru Ahmad, described the mass defection as a sign that more people were placing their confidence in the APC administration. He welcomed the new members and praised their decision to join the party.

The APC Chairman in Lere Local Government, Mr Jonathan Shekarau, also received the defectors. He assured them that the party would treat every member equally while continuing efforts to provide good governance and improve the lives of residents.

Speaking on behalf of the new members, Mr Nathan Azman and Mr Rayyanu Dauda, who were formerly members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said they decided to join the APC because they believed in Governor Uba Sani’s style of leadership. They said the administration had shown commitment to balanced development and improving the welfare of the people.

The representatives of the defectors appealed to the Kaduna State Government to rehabilitate roads in their communities. They also requested the completion of a secondary school project that had remained abandoned for many years.

The defectors pledged to remain loyal to the APC and promised to support the party and the state government’s programmes aimed at promoting development across Kaduna State.
