FULL LIST: Places Named After Tinubu Since He Became President

Since assuming office as President in May 2023, several public projects, roads, institutions and government facilities across Nigeria have been named after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The latest addition is the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which the Federal Government officially renamed in his honour.

Minister of Works Dave Umahi announced the decision on Thursday, explaining that the project was named after Tinubu because the idea for the highway dates back to his time as governor of Lagos State almost three decades ago.

The development adds to a growing number of public assets that have been named after the President over the past two years.

Below are some of the public facilities named after Tinubu since he assumed office:

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Coastal Highway

On July 17, 2026, the Federal Government renamed the 750-kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway after President Tinubu. According to Works Minister Dave Umahi, the decision recognised the President’s role in conceiving the coastal road project during his tenure as governor of Lagos State about 27 years ago.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna

In March 2024, Niger State Governor Umar Bago changed the name of the Abubakar Imam International Airport in Minna to Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport. The governor said the decision reflected the President’s support for the state. The airport had only recently been named after the renowned writer Abubakar Imam before the change.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, Abuja

In May 2024, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, renamed the Abuja Southern Parkway as Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way after completing rehabilitation work on the major road linking the Christian Centre to Ring Road One.

Bola Tinubu Building, National Assembly

Also in May 2024, the National Assembly named its newly completed library after President Tinubu. Construction of the building began during the Ninth Assembly and was completed under the Tenth Assembly before it was inaugurated by the President.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC)

In December 2024, the Nigeria Immigration Service named its command and control centre the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC). The facility serves as a centre for border surveillance, migration management and other security operations.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic, Gwarinpa

In January 2025, the Federal Government approved the establishment of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic in Gwarinpa, Abuja. The institution was created to provide education in technology, vocational training and entrepreneurship.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks, Asokoro

Later in January 2025, the Nigerian Army named its newly completed barracks in Asokoro after President Tinubu. Military authorities said the decision was made to honour the Commander-in-Chief. The barracks include residential quarters, worship centres, sports facilities and other supporting infrastructure.

Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja

In June 2025, the Federal Capital Territory Administration renamed the renovated Abuja International Conference Centre as the Tinubu International Conference Centre. The complex remains one of Nigeria’s leading venues for government functions and international events. The halls inside the facility were also named after senior government officials.
