Panic As Beheaded Body Is Found Inside UNIJOS

Fear spread across the University of Jos (UNIJOS) on Tuesday after the body of a middle-aged man was found without its head on farmland located within the institution’s premises.

The victim’s identity had not been officially established at the time of the report. His body was discovered with the head missing, causing concern among students, university workers and residents living around the campus.

Information gathered indicated that the body was found early on Tuesday on farmland situated within the university community. Initial reports suggested that the deceased was neither a student nor an employee of the institution.

A senior university official, who did not want to be identified because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, confirmed the incident. According to the official, early findings showed that the deceased was a farmer who frequently cultivated crops on the farmland where his body was later discovered.

The source said the man was well known in the area because he regularly visited the farm, usually arriving early in the morning. Although the exact circumstances surrounding the killing remain unknown, the nature of the attack suggests that those responsible may have deliberately targeted him before fleeing with his severed head.

The official also disclosed that the victim’s family had been informed and arrangements were underway to remove the body from the scene.

University management has been briefed about the incident and is expected to issue an official statement through its Information Directorate to members of the university community and the public.

Meanwhile, attempts to obtain confirmation and additional details from the spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, were unsuccessful, as he could not be reached before this report was filed.
