Police Deny Role In PFIPC DG’s Father’s Arrest

The Oyo State Police Command has said it is not handling the case involving the man claiming to be the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), stating that the investigation is being conducted by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, made the clarification while responding to reports that the father of Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi Matthew was arrested in Ogbomoso on Monday.

According to Olayinka, the investigation is a matter of national interest and falls under the jurisdiction of the FCID rather than the Oyo State Police Command.

He advised anyone seeking information about the reported arrest of Adeyemi’s father or other developments in the case to contact the Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja or the FCID Liaison Public Relations Officer for official updates.

Meanwhile, sources alleged that security operatives arrived at the Matthew family residence at Plot 3, Adeniyi Dynasty, behind Technical College, Road Safety Area in Ogbomoso, where they reportedly arrested Adeyemi’s father along with a family friend.

Some residents in the area confirmed that an operation took place. One resident, who requested anonymity, claimed the officers arrived in four vehicles and prevented neighbours from intervening before taking the two men away.

Another resident said the suspect’s mother was left traumatised following the incident.

The development comes amid the controversy surrounding the purported PFIPC, which the Presidency has described as a non-existent government agency.

Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi Matthew is currently facing charges of alleged forgery, impersonation and related offences linked to his purported appointment as director-general of the council.

The case is pending before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
