The defectors were formally received by the Ebonyi State PDP Chairman, Chukwuma Igwe, who described their decision as a welcome development for the party as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.
Igwe said the experience and grassroots support of the new members would strengthen the PDP across the state. He assured them that they would enjoy equal opportunities within the party and encouraged them to work closely with existing members to build a stronger political structure.
He also said the party was committed to providing a credible alternative for the people of Ebonyi during the next general election.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Solomon Adum said they decided to leave the NDC because they believed in the PDP’s commitment to democratic governance, unity and sustainable development in the state.
He also pledged that the new members would work with the party leadership to increase support for the PDP at the grassroots and promote peaceful politics, internal democracy and issue-based campaigns.
The PDP candidate for Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency, Felix Igboke, welcomed the new members and urged them to work together with other party members to secure victory for the PDP in the 2027 general election.
