Cooking Gas Price Falls Across Nigeria

Cooking gas prices have started falling across Nigeria as improved supply and lower depot prices ease pressure on the market.

Many households are now paying less to refill their cylinders compared to recent weeks.

LPG now sells for between ₦1,100 and ₦1,500 per kilogramme in many southern cities, while prices remain higher in parts of the North because of transportation costs.

The cost of refilling cylinders also varies depending on location and individual retailers.

The President of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers, Edu Inyang, linked the price drop to better product availability from local producers and imports.

He also said stronger competition among marketers and the end of panic buying have helped reduce prices.

Despite the reduction, consumers in some areas still pay more because of transport expenses, distribution costs and distance from supply depots.

Marketers expect these factors to continue influencing prices across different parts of the country.
