Abuja Set For New Look Before Tinubu’s First Term – Wike

Residents of the Federal Capital Territory were assured on Tuesday that major infrastructure projects across Abuja would continue despite preparations for the 2027 elections.

The promise came from FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, during the launch of the Southern Parkway service carriageways project in Gaduwa District.

Wike said President Bola Tinubu’s administration remains committed to transforming the capital city before the end of its first term in May 2027.

He maintained that ongoing projects would not be abandoned and predicted that Abuja’s appearance would be completely different by then.

The minister revealed that he had held discussions with the contractor handling the project, CGC Nigeria Limited, which pledged to work round the clock to complete the road if payments were made as agreed.

Wike assured the company that the FCT Administration would meet its financial responsibilities and expressed confidence that the road would be completed before the next elections.

He also warned land grabbers and individuals developing plots without proper approval to stop immediately.

Wike directed relevant agencies to identify and remove illegal structures along project routes, insisting that unlawful developments would not be allowed to obstruct Abuja’s growth plans.
