Tanko’s Son Rejects Allegations Over Kaduna NDC Primary Win

The son of the Obidient Movement leader, Yunusa Muhammad Salisu, has rejected claims that his father influenced the outcome of the Nigeria Democratic Congress primary election for the Kawo Constituency seat in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, insisting that he won the contest fairly.

He was responding to allegations from rival aspirant Rakiya Baba Mohammed, who claimed that despite emerging victorious in the primary, efforts were being made within the party to replace her with Salisu through influence linked to his father, Dr Yunusa Tanko.

Salisu dismissed the claims, saying the contest should be judged strictly on the electoral process and not on personal or family ties.
He added that any concerns raised should be directed at party procedures rather than individuals who were not involved in conducting the poll.
He also presented documents and reports from the exercise, stating that the primary was conducted across several wards with security presence and that he secured the highest number of valid votes overall, according to results compiled by his team and party officials.
