Fulani Group Raises Alarm To Tinubu, Makinde Over Igboho Remarks

A Fulani socio-cultural organisation, the Concerned Fulani People of Nigeria, has called on President Bola Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and other South-West governors to intervene over comments made by Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, regarding alleged kidnapping incidents in Oyo State.

The appeal followed reports that Igboho issued a deadline demanding the release of a woman, her children and a sibling who were reportedly abducted by suspected kidnappers.

He was also reported to have threatened action against those believed to be responsible and vowed to move against a forest reserve allegedly linked to the crime.

In a statement signed by its Convener, Ibrahim Barkindo Chubado, the group warned against linking criminal activities to an entire ethnic community.
It maintained that Fulani communities across Nigeria consist largely of law-abiding citizens and argued that criminal suspects should be treated as individuals rather than representatives of an ethnic group.
The organisation urged authorities to promote peaceful coexistence and prevent actions that could increase ethnic tension.
It also called on Nigerians to support security agencies in tackling crime through lawful channels while avoiding ethnic or religious stereotyping.
