BVAS Failure Disrupts Ekiti’s Voting

Voting was delayed in several parts of Ekiti State on Saturday after failures of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System disrupted accreditation during the governorship election.

The technical issues left many voters waiting for hours without being able to cast their ballots.

The problem was reported at polling units in Ekiti West and other locations, where malfunctioning BVAS devices slowed or completely halted the accreditation process.

Many residents who arrived early to vote expressed frustration as election activities failed to begin as expected.

Affected polling units included locations in the Okete area, along NTA Road and in Erijiyan, where voters remained stranded while officials attempted to address the faults.

As of the time of reporting, the Independent National Electoral Commission had not issued an official statement on the incidents or announced corrective measures.

The disruptions came as security agencies intensified monitoring of the election.

The Nigeria Police Force warned against vote buying, violence and other electoral offences, stating that anyone found violating election laws would face arrest and prosecution.
