Each party claimed strong support across the state’s 16 local government areas as the contest got underway.
The APC said it was aiming for victory in all local governments, wards and polling units, while the PDP and ADC maintained they had enough backing to secure wins in at least 10 local councils each.
Party officials said their confidence was based on support received from voters during the campaign period.
Political parties also intensified preparations by deploying thousands of agents to polling units across the state.
Combined, the APC, PDP and ADC are expected to field more than 7,000 agents to monitor voting and collation activities throughout the election.
Security agencies assured residents of a peaceful process, with the police and NSCDC deploying thousands of personnel across Ekiti.
Election observers also urged INEC to remain neutral, ensure smooth use of BVAS technology and conduct a transparent exercise that reflects the will of the voters.
