Tinubu Mourns Slain Retired General In Captivity

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reacted to the death of retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar, who was held by suspected terrorists in Katsina State before his death in captivity.

The president described the incident as painful and unacceptable while sending condolences to the family, the military and the people of Katsina State.
The situation occurred after the senior retired officer was abducted while travelling to his hometown in Katsina State.
Reports from the Presidency indicated that he died while still being held by his abductors, raising fresh concern over insecurity in parts of the country.
The Presidency also confirmed that the retired general’s wife was abducted alongside him and remains in captivity.
The development has added to public concern over ongoing kidnappings and the safety of victims held by armed groups.
Security authorities, including the Defence Headquarters, said they delayed public comments due to ongoing rescue operations.
The military has since pledged to intensify efforts to track down those responsible and secure the release of the abducted wife.
