The protest follows the failure of the Federal Government to constitute the board of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

Organisers said the delay has prevented the signing and issuance of certificates to nursing graduates for more than three years.

Nursing groups said many graduates have lost jobs and career opportunities within and outside Nigeria because they could not obtain their certificates.

They also accused authorities of neglecting the healthcare sector while nurses continue to face hardship and poor working conditions.

The organisers called on nurses, students and labour groups to join the peaceful protest nationwide.

They also demanded immediate certificate release, compensation for affected graduates and better treatment for healthcare workers across the country.
