Kano Shuts Down Schools For Sallah

The Kano State Government has announced the temporary closure of public schools ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The decision affects both boarding and day schools across the state as students prepare for the Sallah holiday.

According to the state authorities, all boarding school students are to begin the holiday from Saturday, May 23, 2026.

They are expected to return to their schools on Sunday, May 31, 2026, to resume academic activities.


Day school students will start their break earlier on Friday, May 22, 2026.

The government directed that they should resume classes on Monday, June 1, 2026, after the Sallah celebration.


Parents and guardians were advised to ensure that students return promptly on the approved resumption dates.

The state also urged school administrators to maintain compliance with the holiday schedule.
