Yahaya Bello Cleared Despite Fraud Trial
The All Progressives Congress has cleared former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello to contest for the Senate despite his ongoing ₦80.2 billion fraud trial before the court.
The development followed the party’s screening process ahead of the 2027 elections, allowing Bello to continue his bid for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat under the APC platform.
Bello is currently facing corruption charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, but the legal battle did not stop his participation in the party’s primary process.
The decision has already stirred reactions within political circles as the former governor pushes ahead with his senatorial ambition while the court case continues.
