Authorities have also sealed the site as checks begin into what caused the disaster.

The collapse occurred at a construction site where safety concerns are now being reviewed by officials. Rescue efforts had earlier saved some lives, but four victims were confirmed dead.

The tragedy has raised fresh concerns over building standards and enforcement in the capital city.

Following the incident, Wike directed a full probe and confirmed that the premises has been shut down. He also stated that an engineer linked to the project has been taken into custody while the developer is expected to face arrest.

A panel will be set up to examine the cause of the collapse and identify those responsible.

The minister warned developers to follow approved construction rules, including soil tests and proper materials, to prevent future cases.

He stressed that government must ensure safety of lives and property while enforcing compliance. The investigation is expected to continue as authorities work to prevent similar disasters.
